Recording of the Month
Fliter’s disc is a winner all-round, however, and its freshness, clarity and beauty means that it’s the one I’ll be coming back to most readily when next I want to hear these works.
Simon Thompson - MusicWeb-International.com - 1 June 2014
Pieces we all thought we knew inside out are here presented in a remarkably new light
Patrick Rucker - International Record Review - May 2014
"Fliter is an outstanding performer in both of Chopin’s Concertos, and her sonorous though also poetic playing is complemented by a very transparent [and] rhetoric orchestral sound." ****
Remy Franck - Pizzicato magazine - 20 May 2014
"And her phrasing! That is a thing of immense subtlety and beauty, as is the liquid ease of the more virtuoso passages." *****
Harriet Smith - Sinfini Music - 28 March 2014
Fliter’s beautifully considered accounts of the two Chopin concertosreveal a sensibility of rare emotional refinement and high Romantic instincts.
Hugh Canning - The Sunday Times (Culture magazine) - 23 March 2014

Geoffrey Norris - The Telegraph - 21 March 2014

Kate Melleson - The Big Issue - 10 March 2014
"The solo playing is exquisite, liquidly expressive in the slow movements, firm-toned but dance-like and deliciously pliable in the faster ones" ****
Ken Walton - The Scotsman - 13 March 2014
The outer movements of both Concertos have an authoritative confidence and are often coloured with beautifully judged dynamic shading, while the slow movements, especially of No. 2, are beautifully poised and poetic" ****
Tim Parry - BBC Music magazine - March 2014
"Fliter plays with such grace and heartfelt sincerity
Jeremy Nicholas - Gramophone magazine - March 2014
This is very much Chopin playing in the great tradition: rich-toned, generous though never profligate with its rubato, and invested with a vast range of keyboard colour." ****
Andrew Clements - The Guardian - 27 February 2014

The scintillating performances of the outer movements of these two concertos exemplify this pianist’s immaculate technique and excellent musicianship. The orchestral accompaniments from Jun Märkl and the forty players of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra are both elegant and supportive to the soloist, with Peter Whelan’s expressive bassoon solos a particular pleasure, whilst Chopin’s often unfairly maligned orchestration here sounds beautifully transparentIn spite of considerable competition on record in these two concertos Ingrid Fliter’s spellbinding and refreshing accounts of both works can be confidently recommended. Future recordings by this absorbing pianist are eagerly awaited.

"Her [Fliter] reading of the Chopin concerto was commanding and authoritative from the dramatic introductory chords of the maestoso opening movement. The slow middle movement is Chopin at his most lyrical and poignant, written when he fell in love with Constantia Gladkowska.
Steve Moffatt - The Australian Telegraph - 14 February 2014
Album of the Week
"Since winning the silver medal at the 2000 Frederic Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Ingrid Fliter has built a reputation as a first-rate Chopin interpreter. Here she joins with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, celebrating its 40th anniversary year, and conducted by Jun Märkl for an outstanding set of the great - and fiendishly hard to play - piano concertos by the great composer. It’s a breathtaking performance. The orchestra’s subtle and sensitive playing perfectly accompany Fliter’s strongly expressive interpretation, which is at turns lyrical and powerful.
